Kristian Zahariev was born in 1999 in Samokov. From an early age, he attended various drawing schools and developed a deep passion for animated cinema.
In 2022, Kristian earned his Bachelor’s degree in Animation from NATFA Krastyo Sarafov and continued his studies with a Master’s degree in Animation Directing at the same institution. His graduation film, Garlic Soup, has already begun its journey across international film festivals.
He has worked as an animator on several short animated films and two commercial projects. His interests lie in blending different animation techniques, animation dramaturgy, and hybrid cinema combining animation with live-action or documentary filmmaking.
Since 2023, Kristian is an assistant in the Animation course at NATFA. Currently, he is working on his directorial debut, NEPHILA, which is funded by the National Film Center.
