My name is Rosen Branimirov Bachev. I am 18 years old, born in Shumen, and deeply passionate about directing and cinematography.

Ever since I was barely knee-high, cameras have always been around me. I’ve constantly tilted my head at different angles to let the light hit my eyes just right—whether gazing at a building or simply capturing a beautiful moment.

My journey into filmmaking began when I wanted to shoot a film about the impact of my grandfather’s passing on me. That attempt, like many of my early efforts to find direction, didn’t quite materialize. That is until I joined the Lumière Brothers Film School. There, cinema was presented to me in a completely new way. Under an entirely different light. That was the turning point that showed me film was what I was meant to do.

With two completed short films under the school’s name and a third independent project in progress, I present my most recent work—the short film Are We Leaving?
